EXCEPTION System.Exception: Error opening or processsing document.  Please try again, or submit as Administrator to view full error details. ---> System.Exception: Print Manager Plus was unable to convert or process your document.  Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Cause

By default the Web Portal runs in native 64 bit mode, making it only compatible with 64 bit APIs from Microsoft which are not included in the 32 bit version of Office.

Solution 1: Install 64 bit Office

Install the 64 Bit version of Office 2007 or later.

Solution 2: Run the Web Portal in 32 bit mode

The following steps can be used to enable 32 Bit mode on the Web Portal.

This solution requires Print Manager Plus 9.0.18.432 or later and Windows 2008/Vista and later.

  1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS)
Within Start > Administrative Tools open the 'Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager' on the primary installation.

  2. Locate the 'PrintManager' Application Pool
Within IIS, expand your server and select Application Pools.  Within this should be an Application Pool named 'PrintManager'

  3. Open Advanced Settings on the Application Pool
Right click on the 'PrintManager' Application Pool and choose [Advanced Settings]

  4. Enable 32-Bit Applications
Locate the setting labeled [Enable 32-Bit Applications] and change it from 'False' to 'True'

The Web Portal will now be able to use the 32 bit Office APIs.
