7B. Once the machine has restarted click on the new Print Manager Plus icon on the desktop or go to your start menu and select Print Manager/Print Manager Plus.

8. When running Print Manager Plus 9.0 for the first time your will be prompted to for settings to be implemented. If you have already received your new product key you can open it here. If not you can still run the product fully as an evaluation and still migrate your data.

11A. You can select "Auto Detect my Database" and this will search for your SQL Server running the PMP 8.0 database.

11B. Accordingly, you can also select "Manually Specify my Database" a SQL Server DB or a MS Access DB.

12. After clicking continue the Migration Wizard will examine your database and tell you what will be imported and a time frame of how long it will take.

13. After clicking continue you will be prompted for what data you would like to import.

13A. If you did not run this side by side installation and are still running 8.0 services you would set "Stop and Disable all Print Manager Plus 8 Services.

Note: The Migration Wizard already knows if you are running tracking services on any Additional Servers or Workstations and will attempt to stop and disable the PMP 8.0 Services on those machines.

Note: No services should be writing to the old PMP 8 or New PMP 9 database while the import is running.

13C. Print Manager Plus 8.0 did not always store historical domain information for all users.  In event your printing history contains print jobs that it cannot determine the domain from, you will receive the following prompt.

The recommended option will be pre-selected, though here is an example of each option:

  • Place the user's printing in X domain:
This option will allow you specify that any user printing data with no domain connection should just be marked in the specified domain.

  • Assume the user was not part of a domain
This will consider these users and their printing part of the Workgroup, or local users and will not be linked to any domain.
  • Attempt to lookup the user's domain, and place them in x domain if they cannot be found.
The importer will reach out to known domains, and attempt to locate the user by username and place them in the correct domain.  Upon not being found (i.e. User no longer exists in Active Directory) then the user will be placed in x domain.

  • Attempt to lookup the user's domain, and place them in Workgroup/Local Users if they cannot be found.
The importer will reach out to known domains, and attempt to locate the user by username and place them in the correct domain.  Upon not being found (i.e. User no longer exists in Active Directory) then the user will not be linked to a domain, and considered a workgroup, or local user.

14. Once you click start the import will begin and run through multiple screens showing you the progress of what data is being imported. If the import fails the product will alert you and create an import Log, which can be reviewed by our technical staff to determine what went wrong.

15. Once the import is done it will give you statistics and any small errors that may have occurred. It will restart you PMP 9 services and you can open the interface and see all of your data and run reports.
